Back Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for a FEBS Excellence Award you must pass all the following eligibility requirements:

  1. You have obtained your PhD up to 8 (eight) years prior to the submission of your Project Proposal to FEBS, i.e. in 2016.
  2. If more than eight years have elapsed since being awarded your PhD, you are unlikely to be considered unless there are duly justified career breaks, such as compulsory national service or parental leave (18 months per child).

  3. Your work is aimed at furthering the molecular life sciences.
  4. You are a member of a FEBS Constituent Society.
  5. Your laboratory is established in a Host Institution in a FEBS member country.
  6. You must:
    1. present a scientific research track record of proven academic excellence;
    2. have worked in a different country for at least two years prior to your current employment;
    3. evidence independence as group-leader, i.e. having established and operated at the Host Institution for at least 1 (one) year prior to the submission of their Project Proposal to FEBS;
    4. be employed in a salaried capacity by the Host Institution under a contract for a period covering at least the entire, initially intended three-year duration of the Award;
    5. have secured financial support at the Host Institution for the entire, initially intended three-year duration of the Award.
  7. You have not been the recipient of a FEBS Long-Term Fellowship in the same Host Institution as that in the application for the FEBS Excellence.
